Common Tales!

Yet another great site! Check out Common Tales. It is similar to Our Story, but each had there own advantages. I think that I'm going to use both for a while - at least until one appears to have a decided advantage over another.

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Well, it appears that Blogger has resolved all of the issues that we were all facing as bloggers all weekend. Fortunately, I came away unscathed.

I spent most of today writing for Associated Content. I created a Holiday Guide for Bay City. It is now up for publication. I can't believe how much is going on! The whole thing took me an hour or so to write, if not more. I might also write one regarding upcoming bazaars, as well as one for Standish. Brian even suggested one for Omer, which made me laugh!

Anyway, I'm really humming along with Associated Content. I've included all published items at the bottom of this blog. Check it out! Right now, it is mostly old items from my MSU days. There will be tons more published in the coming days as I have a backlog waiting for approval.

Take care. More later.

Tolerance.org: U.S. Map of Hate Groups

Tolerance.org: U.S. Map of Hate Groups

This map represents exactly why Detroit is in the state that it is in. Incredibly sad, but true.

Poor Tigers!

Another Great Writing Site!

I forgot to add the website OurStory.com to the list I included a couple of days ago. It can be used as a personal journal, a way to collaborate on an event with friends and family, or as a way to write your life story.

It is a wonderful free site (you can pay for additional features if you wish, like on LiveJournal). You might ask why I've been contributing to so many different sites. The simple answer is this: the all have different features and purposes. They all add one more piece of the puzzle.

So Much Going On, So Little Time!

I realize that I have been gone for quite some time, but I keep stumbling across great websites (all for free) that just beg to be tried out. Sometimes, you hit on a jem. Brian sent me info. on this website called Associated Content, and it has been incredibly surprising. I've actually been PAID (yes, I said PAID) for content I've submitted (and you can bet your you know what that there is a long line of items written by yours truly waiting to be published too). As a result, I'm revamping my blogs and my writing system. All of my poetry will be published will be published via Pen N Paper (hat tip to Julie, who created it!), all of my general content/papers will be published on Associated Content, and everything else will stay on my private PC for now (although my LiveJournal will continue to serve as my journal (at least I have the option there to keep certain posts private).

Anyway, there is tons going on behind the scenes here in Bay City. I plan to address what is going on regarding the upcoming election, as well as my perspective, very soon. In addition, I'm hoping to update my LJ and blogs soon. I also have lots to add to my blog roll and del.icio.us accounts. Look for lots more to come.

little green colloquium: Remembering Merideth Howard, The Oldest American Servicewoman Killed In Combat

little green colloquium: Remembering Merideth Howard, The Oldest American Servicewoman Killed In Combat

If the story of this woman's life doesn't inspire you, I don't know what will. Honestly.

Hopefully, someday - far off in the future I hope - I will be able to say that I've been able to accomplish something as well. We need more people like her.

ABC News: Science: Feeling the Gender Gap Firsthand

ABC News: Science: Feeling the Gender Gap Firsthand

Amazing article regarding the loaded topic of women and science. Sometimes I wonder if I made the right decisions in college...

You know, I still have most of my life ahead of me (probably 50-75 years) - I just hope that I make the most of it.

Dr. Sanity: A TALE OF TWO REALITIES

Dr. Sanity: A TALE OF TWO REALITIES

Amazing post by a fellow Michigander who happens to live in one of the most liberal cities in the state.

Unfortunately, she mirrors my sentiments fairly accurately. I, too, hope that we are not correct in our belief that it will take a catastrophe of immense proportions to wake people up to the current situation.

A lot of my favorites have been blogging about this post too:

Memories of Matthew

Memories of Matthew

An intensely interesting site. A friend of a deceased young man is publishing the guys journal on-line (at his friend's request).

If Matthew was still living, he'd be 24. The journals take place during 2003 (thus far) and really resonate with me. At the time, Matthew was a typical college student. He was creating a chronicle of his life with insight and humor. It is definitely interesting. Certainly reminds me of my last days at MSU. It is sad that his life was so very short.

A New Beginning...

Well, a lot of things have been changing in my life lately and I've neglected my writing completely. I've been going back and forth on how to proceed. Lately, I've come to realize that it really doesn't matter. I just need to write. I have to keep it up and I can't expect perfection.

I suppose that is it for now. Much more to come in the coming days, weeks, months, and years.
