Little Bun Blog (Amelia's Blog)

Little Bun Blog (Amelia's Blog)

While there are a millions "Baby Blogs" out there in blogland, this one really caught my attention. Anyone who nicknames their little daughter "the bun" has a sense of humor. I hope that she appreicates all of her Daddy's hardwork when she gets old.

The Book Bitches

The Book Bitches

Today's post on the blog above concerns a book called The Tenth Circle. From what I've read, I will absolutely have to read it!

It concerns modern family life; in particular, a 14 year-old girl's relationship with her father. At this point in my life, when I feel as though I have let everyone down, including my family and myself, in addition to dealing with my complex relationship with my own father, I couldn't think of a better read.

PS - Has anyone else noticed that this blog has become a bit literary? Not a bad thing, just an observation...

Come home to Little House

Come home to Little House

If you've read some of my earlier posts on Writings of A Misguided Blonde, you may remember that I am a bit obsessed with the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. My dream for some time has been to write a series of children's book regarding my childhood in Michigan.

Anyway, pricing and getting things set for E-Bay, I came across an almost complete set that belonged to my cousins Abby and Emily growing up (my Aunt Robin gave me a bunch of their old books and toys to sell on E-Bay). Well, looking for hardcover versions of the books, I came across this amazing website. Some writers have built on Laura's original books (which I am not sure if I am in agreement with or not), building series based on the lives of Laura's Great-Grandmother, Grandmother, Mother, and Daughter. The whole thing now resembles the American Girl doll collection (each doll has a collection of 6 books). Anyway, if and when I have a daughter, she is definitely going to have the original books (haven't made up my mind on the others yet...). Also, I came across complete sets of Ann of Green Gables books on Amazon.com. Another favorite series of books from my childhood. I wouldn't mind having a hardcover collection of those as well.

You are never too old to be young again, are you?

Music When the Lights Go Out

I just love the title of this blog, but the quote on the header is even better... I really need to get back into listening, messing around with music. Wonder if there is a co-op radio around Bay City? Sometimes I really miss Austin...

What a blog! I especially like the comments regarding the media, the distortion of the female figure in our society, and the product that would allow you to turn off a TV anywhere...

Oh, and he's conservative too...

Dixie Peach: Friday Shuffle - Cheesy Pop Edition

Another great blog! The author of this one certainly has an incredibly interesting life... A southern woman running off to Germany to marry the man of her dreams WITHOUT KNOWING THE LANGUAGE. She seems to have a good sense of humor too...

Amazing. I can't help but be fascinated by other people's lives.

Her most recent pose, including picture of her pregnant, is too much. She describes pregnancy in a very unique way - it is almost as if she is saying what others are afraid to say or think.
As someone obsessed with pregancy, it was intriguing to read a thoughtful, thought-provoking description of the miracle of creating new life.

Against The Grain

Against The Grain

A rather interesting blog... I love all of the quotes that are included in the beginning. This guy is right, we have to be the change we want to see in the world. I truly am tired of sitting on my but these past months (it will be 10 months the middle of March to be exact). I really need to get behind something.

I am truly hoping that I end up getting a position with Case Systems... While Brian and I wouldn't be working together on a daily basis, we would be working for the same employer at the same facility. We'd be able to carpool everyday...

It truly is an innovative, young company that has great prospects, especially if Michigan's economy finally gets repositioned to further expand the science and medical research fields in the state.

Interesting blog... The guy's tone kind of reminds me of my Jason, my cousin Emily's husband.

At first I thought it was written by some dime-a-dozen frat boy at a Big Ten university, but I was ENTIRELY wrong. The writing actually has some depth...

just another day - Abby Schwab

Not sure what to say... After updating my livejournal to include schools, I stumbled across the LJ of an old high school classmate. Not just any classmate, mind you, my former "archrival." Evidently she doesn't mind letting people into her head as she didn't privatize any of her entries... She just doesn't make that kind of mistake.

Anyway, I know have a completely different view of her as a person.

Somehow, she actually has a heart. I have known her for years, but until I read her LJ, her inner most thoughts, I didn't realize it.

Owlhaven

An amazing blog written by a mother of 8... It has tons to do with adoption, an absolute passion of mine... I'll discuss adoption in much more detail as I further delve into my thoughts, feelings, etc. regarding Turner Syndrome. Honestly, I've thought about starting a new blog regarding TS simply due to my love of organiztion. The problem is that too many blogs become a huge task when updating.

The Funky Junkie Beadroom: good night, sweetheart.

This tribute to a premature daughter with Turners Syndrome, who eventually lost her life, is incredibly touching...

It underscores just how amazing women and girls with TS truly are. We are just naturally fighters... we have to be, as our births are truly miracles (as if birth isn't a miracle enough).

Unfortunately, most pregnancies in which the fetus has TS end in miscarriages or still births. Only 2% of fetuses survive full-term.

Yahoo! 360° - Princess Amber's Blog - Turner's Syndrome---my story

I've been debating for quite a while as to whether or not I wanted to discuss Turners Syndrome in my blog. It is a genetic disorder that I've dealt with my entire life. As a result, I am quite short - 5 ft. - and I am unable to conceive children naturally.

While there is SO much more I want to say on the subject, along with my personal experiences growing up with TS, included is link to a blog written by a witty 19 year-old with TS.

One of the best things about having TS is meeting other strong girls and women who have the disorder!

Even though this winter scene was shot in Alaska, it could easily have been shot in Bay City this past week. We had 5 inches of snow last weekend (quite a bit has melted) and ended up with just under an inch today. It sounds like we are in for it this weekend too...

AustenBlog . . . she’s everywhere

WOW... Jane Austen. I could go on about her books forever... and ever. They were probably the best books I've ever read - and at an appropriate time in my life.

Her books accompanied me to Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Texas, etc., etc. Lindsey and Kimberly - two sisters and good friends who befriended me my first couple of years at MSU - continually discussed the books in relation to Bridget Jone's Diary...

Anyhow - Lots of great college memories regarding these particular books... I REALLY need to reread them.
